On October 12th The Black Theatre Troupe will open its 2012-13 season of Arizona premieres. Beginning at the Playhouse on the Park with August Wilson’s masterful Two Trains Running and a World Premiere musical in December then continue with two stunning productions in our beautiful new home in downtown Phoenix.
Today, now more than ever, we believe that The Black Theatre Troupe is one of the cultural treasures of the Valley. From its proud but humble beginnings as a grassroots, creative outlet for restless, talented multi-cultural artists in the 70’s, we are now a highly recognized theatre. The completion of our new facility, which was built as the result of the last bond election, illustrates that the voters of the City of Phoenix have affirmed our importance. The citizens of Phoenix and the Black Theatre Troupe believe that the 5th largest city in the United States must reflect the diversity of its citizens.
